Current Information:Age-23 74, Patmos Road, Brixton 21st London (1st Surrey Rifles) arrived in France in March 1915 as part of 142 Brigade, 47th Division. After a period of trench training they took over a section of the line at Rue L’Epinette near le Touret in northern France. This was adjacent to the sector from which the attack on Aubers Ridge was launched on 9th May, 1915 and some of the fall out from that action, namely heavy German shelling fell on the trenches held by 21st London. |
